This book conveys some of the best and worst of George Washington. In the early part of the year, he drove the British from Boston and both he and the British moved on to New York from where the British then drove out and nearly demolished the blundering American army. The Revolution was virtually over in all respects until Christmas day when Washington's fortitude and determination literally turned the tide of the entire war. One cannot read this without feeling intense gratitude for the high degree of sacrifice for those individuals who fought so valiantly for our freedom.
